The Christmas Stroll is coming, and the Library will be packed with special events all day. December 11th will see the Library open from 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the Friends Book Sale. Everything will be on sale for 10, 20 or 25 cents. There will be loads of bargains and different things to choose from. Then at 9:00 a.m., Deanna Mydland from PBSKids will be teaching a cookie-making workshop for children and their parents. Everyone will explore the wonders of easy holiday baking and take home a bag of cookie dough to bake, as well as a bag of holiday foods to share.

The Friends will be hosting their usual reception from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. with treats and drinks to warm up strollers who need to stop in and get warm; and of course, the highlight of the day will be a visit from Santa from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Children of all ages are invited to come and have their picture taken with Santa as well as get a holiday treat.

The Winter Wear Giveaway will begin at 9:30 a.m. and last until we are completely out of hats, coats, socks, and other items needed to keep warm during our long and cold winter season. Everything is free to those in need, no questions asked. Come enjoy all the different activities and check out a great book or movie to enjoy!

December will also see our Crafts4Christmas programs, which will give everyone a chance to make a great gift for a special friend or family member. Sara and Robin have been ordering some fantastic materials to create different projects to share with someone special. The programs will be on December 9th, 14th, and 16th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. These are open to all ages, and they will be a great way to get in the holiday spirit.

Our last Storytime of the year will be on December 17th at 10:30 a.m. Karen Burtch will be leading a great time of music and song. Storytime will resume at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on January 7th. The program is open to anyone first grade and under. It includes crafts, stories, music, and PBSKids!

Because of the Library closing December 24th and 25th, the book clubs will meet earlier this month. The Mystery Book Club will meet at 5:00 p.m. on December 14th and the History Book Club will meet at 6:00 p.m. on December 20th.

The last painting classes for this year, both watercolor and paint-by-number, will meet the week of December 13th at regular times. Painting classes will resume January 3rd and 4th. For more information on December programs please call the Library at 287-3763.
