The search for a new Whitehall School District Superintendent narrowed to four candidates. The finalists included: Jan Cahill, Superintendent for Fromberg School District south of Billings; John Cheek, Superintendent and Principal for Augusta School District; William Colter, Superintendent and Principal for Hysham School District; and Paul Stremick, Principal for Shepherd High School. Each was scheduled to visit Whitehall before the final decision expected by April 1.

Whitehall High School senior Kirk Joy won an Outstanding Actor Award and the Whitehall Drama Club performed “Drive-in” at the 1997 Montana State Thespian Conference in Missoula.

Trojan Educator of the Week was Rachel Monforton, an English teacher. Mrs. Monforton was nominated for her “outstanding” job and for “providing a great deal of success for students.” She and her husband have two sons, Chris and Paul.

Trojan Student of the Week was Tamara Arp, a freshman. She is the daughter of Pat and Dave Arp and was nominated by Mr. Battaiola for her art skills. Tamara enjoys creative arts and volleyball and plans to attend college to become a doctor and work with children.

Trojan Athlete of the Week was MiRanda Martinson, daughter of Randy and Debby Martinson. MiRanda, a senior, did “a great job against Butte Central” in the Lady Trojans volleyball victory. She plans to attend college and major in graphic design. She enjoys the outdoors and sports.
