Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks: 6/15/2022

For those of you who have not heard, the library mill levy passed! Thank you so much to everyone who voted to keep your library moving forward!! We have been flooded this week with patrons coming in to tell us how much they love the library and are excited to see what comes next. So many people were involved in getting information out to the public that it is impossible to thank everyone individually. I do want to thank the incredible Friends of the Whitehall Community Library for funding all of the publicity and information sheets; Liz Pullman who supported us so strongly, both through the Whitehall Ledger and its website; the library staff who have provided superior service every day to the people of Whitehall and the surrounding areas; those who posted on social media and wrote letters of support to the newspapers, and the Jefferson County Library Board who worked so hard to get it on the ballot. Lastly, I want to thank our County Commissioners for their encouragement during the last two years.

The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus is coming to town and Skeeter the Clown is coming to the Library this Thursday, June 16, at 1 PM to entertain children and explain circus life. This is a great chance for children of all ages to meet Skeeter, who is a clown with the visiting circus. The Circus will be in town June 23 and there are all sorts of activities to visit. There are posters all over town, including at the library, showing all the different events so check it out!

Monday began our summer feeding program at 11:30 AM. Children under the age of 18 are welcome to come and have lunch for free at the library. To make sure we have enough lunches, it would be very helpful if people could call and let us know if their child needs a meal that day. I have a menu for the entire summer so those with allergies will be able to spot days they need to make other arrangements. There is no paperwork to fill out or formal records, so this is just a way to help families in the community with the ever-rising cost of food. Lunches will be served Monday through Thursday from 11:30 AM to 1 PM.

Next week Summer Reading will host the amazing Markie Schulz and her dragon puppets on Wednesday, June 22, at 10:30 AM. Markie has been coming every summer since long before I came, and she is always a huge hit. While you are here don't forget to sign up for the summer reading program!

June calendars are available at the front desk and yes, I am working on the July calendar!
