High school student gives back

While she still may be 10 months away from graduating from high school, soon-to-be senior Madison Lombardi is already demonstrating leadership qualities far beyond her years.

Last Friday, Lombardi hosted a blood drive at the Trinity United Methodist Baptist Church in Whitehall. Lombardi hosted the blood drive in conjunction with the American Red Cross "Leaders Saves Lives" program. Lombardi said the program gives her an opportunity to earn a college scholarship, but when she recently received an email about a blood shortage nationwide, she decided to do the drive as a way to give back. Lombardi said she worked hard getting people to donate.

"I'm reaching out to anyone that will listen. Friends, family, strangers on the street," she said.

Lombardi added the drive got off to a slow start, but things really started to pick up and were going well.
