It’s inching closer to the first day of school in Whitehall.

According to Whitehall Superintendent John Sullivan, teachers will report for their first day on August 29, and students will begin school August 31.

In an interview Tuesday, Sullivan discussed the progress of two major summer projects at the Whitehall Schools. Sullivan said he was pleased with the work done on the school parking lots and said they lots will be painted next week. He said the new rooftop heaters have been placed on the roof of Whitehall High School. He added that employees from McLees Incorporated of Bozeman are currently working with the thermostats for the 11 heaters.

Sullivan said there will be a Fall Sports Meeting tonight at 7 p.m., and practice for volleyball, cross country, and football will start Friday, August 12.

The district is still looking for two assistant coaches for the 2016-17 school year. Sullivan said they are in need of an assistant middle school volleyball coach, and an assistant high school girl’s basketball coach.
