Local rescue organizations receive generous donation

Mikel Kelley presents Patti Reed and Misty Hammerbacker with nearly 500 pounds of pet food to be used at their rescue organizations.

For the past two years, softball teams from around Southwest Montana have come together for a good cause at the Whitehall Charity Softball Co-Ed Tournament.

This year proceeds and food donations were given to two local pet rescue organizations.

Last Thursday, tournament organizer Mikel Kelly gave 4-Paws Rescue and Patti Reed's new rescue orgnization each $325 from the tournament proceeds. She also gave 4-Paws 140 pounds of dog food and 82 pounds of cat food. Reed was given 225 pounds of dog food.

Last year tournament proceeds were donated to the Whitehall Community Library.
