We Got Game: Homecoming week underway in Whitehall

It's once again Homecoming Week in Whitehall with a variety of events for students, alumni, and community members. The theme of the 2016 Whitehall High School Homecoming is "We Got Game", and events kicked off Monday and will conclude Friday with the parade, Trojans football game against Deer Lodge, the announcement of Homecoming Royalty and Homecoming Dance.

The parade is scheduled to take place at 1 p.m. on Legion Avenue and will be led by elementary school students. The football game is scheduled to kickoff at 7 p.m. Homecoming Royalty will be announced at halftime, and the dance is scheduled from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m.

The annual bonfire is scheduled to take place Thursday at 8:30 p.m. near the tennis courts.

Each day of this week, Whitehall students are encouraged to participate in "Dress Up Days" with a board game inspired theme. Monday was "Candy Land Day," and Tuesday was "Operation" Day with students being encouraged to dress as a medical professional or injured. The Tuesday dress up day was in conjunction with the annual National Honor Society/Interact Blood Drive.

The theme Wednesday is "The Game of Life" and students are asked to dress as themselves in the future. The theme for Thursday is "Guess Who" and students will be dressing as twins. The final dress up day is Friday with the theme of "Uno", and students will be displaying their 'We're Number One" spirit by wearing Purple and Gold.

Throughout the week there will be a competition between the K-5, middle school, and high school students, and a large score sheet will be hanging in the student longue. A reward party will be given to the winners at the three different levels.

Dress up days will be counted by class advisory and elementary school teachers at the beginning of each day, and prizes will be awarded for best costumes by advisors and teachers. Other competitions include Middle School door decorating, an elementary school best spirit posters contest, and the JMG classes conducting a campus clean up and repainting of the Trojans heads around campus.

Other events on Friday include the Manly-Man Volleyball and Powder Puff contests in the Varsity Gym, and the Spirit Assembly at 10 a.m.
