Harriers battle in Missoula

The Whitehall High School Cross Country team faced stiff competition at last Saturday’s Mountain West Classic in Missoula.

The boy’s varsity race featured 410 runners from 65 high schools, many of them from Montana Class A and AA. Whitehall senior Hunter Flynn had the top time for the Trojans.

He finished in 72nd place with a time of 16:39. Clancy Russell was the next Whitehall runner to cross the line. The sophomore finished the race at 18:59.95. Ryan Murphy finished with a time of 20:22.39, Cade Briggs had a time of 21:35.96 and Adrian Bright ended the race with a time of 25:17.71.

Senior Ann Russell placed in the top 200 out of 361 runners in the girl’s varsity race. She was 200th with a time of 21:44.23.

In the girl’s junior varsity race, freshmen Madison Loomis finished in the top 100. She finished 91st out of 479 runners with a time of 22:23.90.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

The Whitehall Middle School boy’s team finished in 15th place as a team and had several strong finishes. Seventh grader Adam Williams placed in 37th out of 303 runners with a time of 8:03.00. Sixth grader Michael Reiff was 74th with at time of 8:39.16 and sixth-grader Dane Hoover was 75th at 8:39.26. Sixth grader Gavin Watson placed 123 with a time of 9:23.44 and Kenzie Huglet placed 157 with a finish of 11:39.43. On the girl’s side, Chloe Brown finished with a time of 12:24.69.
