Lady Trojans win two at Manhattan tourney

The Whitehall High School volleyball team ran into some strong competition last Saturday at the Manhattan Christian High School Tournament.

The Lady Trojans finished the pool play event with a 2-6 record, picking up wins over Cut Bank (21-13), and Shields Valley (25-21).

Whitehall lost to White Sulphur Springs (21-20), Colstrip (21-3), Townsend (21-20), Twin Bridges (25-15), Manhattan Christian (25-22) and Cut Bank.

First-year head coach Lauren McDonald said the tournament was not one of the teams better ones of the season.

"The girls are struggling a bit, but I'm hoping to get things squared away again," she said.

In other action last week, the Lady Trojans dropped home contest Thursday to Townsend 27-25, 25-21, and 25-18.

Mesquite Melton had 12 digs, Kaya Welch had nine assists, Kyeli Ostler had eight digs, and Alicia Loomis and Rachel Smith each had seven digs.

Whitehall will next take to the court Thursday at Manhattan.
