Schools hosting Veteran's Program

Students in the Whitehall School District have been busy preparing for their annual Veteran’s Day program.

The event will take place Friday, November 11 in the Varsity Gym. Local Veteran’s and residents are invited to attend the program.

Whitehall School Musical Director Janet Heilig said when preparing for the program, she feels it is important for students to realize they belong to an entire community, not just a school.

“They are a part of something bigger than themselves! We talk about what the day means, who our guests will be, and they get to share about family members that they know in the military,” she said.

Students are currently learning new music for the program, and Heilig said they have been taking it very seriously because they want to do a good job.

“I have had many students tell me that this is a favorite performance of the year because it means something. It’s great to hear that, they understand why we do the program,” she said.

Shortly after last year’s program, Whitehall Superintendent John Sullivan estimated around 100 community members attended the popular yearly event.
