Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
Hi Folks,
At our regular meeting last week, we held a Public Hearing and approved Resolution 34-2016 which amends our Budget. This became necessary after the Department of Revenue reached a last minute deal with Northwestern Energy to resolve some assessment issues. We requested the DOR recertify all of our values for this year. We were able to absorb most of the change by reducing some of our cash reserves. As a result, the tax bills went out late so the due date changed from November 30th to December 9th.
We approved Resolution 35-2016 for an Intercap loan for the Big Sky Acres RSID at Montana City.
The Williams Bridge across the Jefferson River will be closed beginning November 28th through the end of the year. One of the supports on a piling slipped so we will be getting that fixed. The bridge is currently only rated for 3 tons. We hope we will be able to bring that rating up after the repair is done.
I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving this year.
FYI: President Abraham Lincoln said that Thanksgiving would be the fourth Thursday in November. In 1939 President Roosevelt moved it up a week to the third Thursday, hoping it would help the shopping season during the Depression era. It never caught on and was moved back to the fourth Thursday two years later.
