Between the Stacks

What a great visit we had with Santa on Saturday! The Library staff wishes to express a special thank you to the Friends of the Library for providing goodie bags for the children, refreshments for the adults, setting up the snack tables, and helping the staff clean up afterwards. Of course, a huge thank you to our dear Santa who listened to almost 100 children tell him their most-wanted requests for this year. I hope the parents were able to take great pictures with all the excitement. However did we manage without cameras on our cellphones?

Children’s programming continues with a special Christmas story time this week. Story time is every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. The second Wednesday of the month is a musical story time with musician Donna Weldon. This week’s story time will be the last reading until January 4, 2017.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for closing dates during the holidays. The Library will be closed from December 24-26 so the staff may spend time with their loved ones. Regular hours will resume on Tuesday December 27. New Year’s closing will be from December 31-January 2 with regular hours resuming on January 3. Please anticipate your library needs ahead of time so you don’t run out of books, movies, and more during the closings.

Adult watercolor class will begin a new project in January so if you would like to join Butch and his talented painters please call and sign up. The Library provides all of the needed supplies and the classes are free to the public.

Origami will also begin again in January. If you have ever wanted to learn this beautiful art of paper folding, classes are every Friday but the first Friday of the month, at 4:00 p.m. Just drop on in to join the fun.

January promises to be a busy month of programming. New calendars will be out at the end of next week. They are a great way to keep all of the different events and times straight during the week. I am still working on our new web page and hope to finish it soon. You can visit the Library web site at: . This is the spot to access the Library databases, the online catalog and other features.

I will be calling those patrons who signed up for computer classes in January. All four classes are almost full so if you are thinking about taking the class let us know. There are currently four spaces left for this session. To register please call the Library at 287-3763. Due to limited space and equipment, patrons will be added to a waiting list for the next session in March once the classes are full. I can’t wait for the new laptops to come in!
