Trojans compete at Mixer

The Whitehall High School wrestling team was able to get one more night of action before Christmas at last weeks' Anaconda Mixer.

Trojan Coach Steve Sacry said it's always a good trip to Anaconda.

"There was a good crowd and a lot of energy in the gym," he said.

Whitehall had two duals at the Thursday event, the first a 36-33 loss to Columbus.

Sacry said in dual matches it makes a big difference if they don't have a wrestler in each weight class and because of open classes, Columbus started with a six point advantage.

Connor Johnson, Braxtyn Armstrong, and Dawson Hoerauf all won their matches against Columbus by pin.

Mike Wilkinson, Riley Forcella, Wyatt Scheller and Adrian Bright also competed for the Trojans in the dual.

Whitehall dropped their second match of the evening 51-24 to host Anaconda.

Forcella, Johnson, Armstrong and Hoerauf all won their matches by pin.

Clancy Russell, Scheller, Bright, and Kayden Howser all dropped their matches against the Copperheads.

Sacry said the wrestlers will continue to work over Christmas break and start competition again January 3 in Columbus.
