Trojans battle the best in Bozeman

The Whitehall High School wrestling team was able face off against some of the best teams in the state at last week's Tom LeProwse Tournament in Bozeman.

"The boys did well. It is the biggest, toughest tournament we will go to this year," coach Steve Sacry said.

Leading the way for Whitehall was junior Dawson Hoerauf, who finished fifth at the tournament that Sacry said featured mostly Class AA and A Schools. Hoerauf continued his strong season with a 5-2 record.

Sacry said sophomore Connor Johnson was just one match away from placing and ended the weekend with a 4-2 record.

Senior Braxtyn Armstrong also had a solid performance with a 4-2 record at 152 pounds. Mike Wilkinson (120 pounds) and Wyatt Powers (145 pounds were both 2-1 at the tournament.

Also competing for Whitehall were Clancy Russell (1-2), Riley Forcella (3-3), Wyatt Scheller (0-5), Adrian Bright (0-5), and Kayden Howser (2-3).

It will be a busy week for the team with a match Thursday night in Boulder starting at 6 p.m. and a weekend tournament in Choteau.
