Thomas Wright Chambers, 63, of St. John, WA died Feb. 3, 2017 at his St. John home. The memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, Feb. 10, 2017 at Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax, WA. Concluding services will follow at the Colfax Cemetery. Tom was born Aug. 26, 1953 in Butte, MT to Kalman & Geraldine (Wells) Chambers. The family moved to Cardwell and later to Whitehall, Montana where Tom grew up and attended school. He graduated from high school at Whitehall where he played on the basketball team, was in the band and participated in Boy Scouts. On July 27, 1974 Tom married Margaret (Mic) McPherson in Whitehall and they moved to Colfax, WA where they made their home until last year when they moved to St. John. Tom worked for Arrow Machinery, Western States Equipment and S & R Grain for a number of years following which he went to work for Whitman County. Tom served the county with a career that spanned 28 years until his retirement last October. He enjoyed fishing, camping and playing golf. Spending time with his family gave him special pleasure, especially time spent with his grandchildren who affectionately called him "PAPA". Tom really liked to watch his grandsons try to beat each other up. Tom was a member of the Colfax Elks Lodge and the Colfax Golf Club. He is survived by his loving wife Mic at their St. John home; his three daughters Katrina (Steve) White, Tracey (Nathan) Jordan, Crystal (Dustin) Chambers-DeFord, his six grandchildren; Brady and Logan White, Matthew and Ryan DeFord, Jace Roeller and Roxie Jordan; and two sisters Sara Preece & Barb Bowman. Tom was preceded in death by his parents. Bruning Funeral Home of Colfax, WA has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Heart Association.
