"Sew Blooming Fun" at Garden Club meeting

Due to weather conditions the Whitehall Garden Club meeting was postponed until February 8, but all the planned activities still took place. Ann Palmer and Karen Ranta provided a delicious array of breakfast fare, enjoyed by all.

The short meeting got underway, led by Jayne Dean, VP; Maureen Dawson Sec. and Barb Willis, Treasurer. Discussion was held about the upcoming Spring events and then Jayne introduced the presenters.

First, Becky Taylor explained her project for the day showing GC members how to plant bulbs, layering the bulbs from the shortest growing time, to the longest time needed to grow. On average each member's flower pot had at least 3 layers of the different bulbs. Becky had brought in potting mix, small gravel, bulb food for everyone to "dig in," warning us to be sure and put the pots in full sunshine (February??) and keep the pots warm.(February??)

Now we are watching, watering and waiting for Spring to spring!

The next presenter, Jill Honer explained and showed the GC members how to recycle old denim pants and turn them into absolutely darling garden aprons.

Jill showed us several varieties of aprons we could make from the simplest to much more complicated. We were shown how to 'embellish with relish' using lace and fabrics, dazzlers, flowers and bows creating such beautiful and efficient aprons for use in our gardens this summer. Jill brought in her sewing machine, ironing board, fabrics, patterns, and a set of instructions that encouraged all to create. Both presenters magically took a snowy winter day and gave us hope for Spring! Thank you Jill and Becky!
