She was born to Archie and Ann Desy at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lewistown, MT on February 9, 1933.

She graduated from St. Leo’s High School in Lewistown in 1951. Betty moved to Butte in 1951. She was employed by Dun and Bradstreet from 1951 to 1954. She married Vern Spackman, Jr. in 1954 in Lewistown. They moved to Whitehall in 1954. They had two children Michael and Michelle. Vern preceded her in death.
