Water line replacement projects on Legion Ave. and Valley View were once again a major topic of discussion for Whitehall’s Town Council. The council voted to consider the sizing of the bond issue for the Legion Ave. Project, let the bids for construction and increase the water rates. The Valley View Project will be reviewed and funding for that project will be sought in other areas, it was agreed.

Despite cold winds, nearly 300 children took part in last Saturday’s Easter egg hunt held on the high school’s football practice field in Whitehall. Children were divided into their age groups. The “Golden Egg” winner was Erica Harman. She received A Stereo donated by Coast to Coast of Whitehall. The “Silver Egg” was found by Andrew Housman. He received a $50 savings bond, which was purchased with funds donated by the many businesses.

Student of the week was Jason Salvagni, a sophomore at WHS. He was chosen for his outstanding abilities in science. Jason is the son of Tom Salvagni and Shelley Salvagni.

The Whitehall Trojans boys’ track team placed second with 64 points at Townsend’s Invitational track meet. Whitehall’s girls’ track team placed third with 83 ½ points. Local first place winners: High Jump – T. Jenkin, 6-0; Javelin – K. Ellerton, 148-5 ½; Shot Put – C. Scott, 31-3; 300-meter hurdles – H. Hemund, 52.8; Discus – C. Scott, 88-2.
