Whitehall School lunch prices raising

The cost of school lunches will be increasing in the Whitehall Schools for the 2017-18 school year.

At the Whitehall School Board of Trustees meeting last week, Superintendent John Sullivan said the USDA and OPI recommended for school districts to raise the prices to reimbursement levels.

The prices for next year will change from $3.25 to $3.50 for adults, from $2.25 to $2.50 for K-6 students, and from $2.50 to $2.75 for 7-12 graders.

Sullivan also reported that the bleachers at the high school football field have been demolished. He said new cement pads have been poured and the new bleachers will be installed the last two weeks of August. He added some of the old planks from the bleachers would be available at the school’s obsolete items sale June 21.

Whitehall Elementary Britt McLean reported the year-end numbers at the school.

He said there were 27 in kindergarten, 32 in first, 29 in second, thirty in third, 22 in fourth and 32 in fifth for a total of 172.

He said they have 19 signed up for kindergarten next year.

Middle School and High School Principal Hannah Nieskens reported the year-end total attendance at the two schools was 205.
