Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Katherine Joyce Tribble Janacaro

Katherine Joyce Tribble Janacaro was born July 13, 1928. She was adopted by William and Katherine Tribble, and grew up on a ranch with her brother, Larry, in the Milligan Canyon area. Her education included Eureka, a country school just down the road from the ranch; Holy Rosary in Bozeman; Montana State College; and St. Mary College in Leavenworth, Kansas, where she earned her degree in home economics.

While attending St. Mary's she met Victor Janacaro on a blind date, and the two were married at Holy Family Parish on Aug. 21, 1950, in Three Forks, Mont. They had eight children: Bill, Mary, Norm, Mark, Jeff, Joann, Julie and Angie.

Joyce loved teaching school in Whitehall. She was an active member in her community where she served as Jefferson County's first female County Commissioner. She was devoted to her family and her Catholic faith.

A Funeral Mass will be held for Joyce and her husband, Vic, who passed away Nov. 13, 2013, on Monday, Aug. 21, 2017, at St. Teresa's Parish in Whitehall.
