Black Tie Blue Jeans gives back

Every May, residents from across the area come together in unison to give back to the community at the annual Black Tie Blue Jeans event.

The 13th annual event in 2017 was once again a success, with over $27,000 being awarded to local organizations.

According to BTBJ Committee Member Jill Dove, roughly $19,880 will go to the Whitehall Chamber for events like Frontier Days, the Futurity, and the Christmas Stroll. She said roughly $3,500 will go to the Jefferson Valley Community Foundation. Dove added they still have some final expenses, but the numbers should be very close to this.

Committee members will also be awarding nine grants with the proceeds from 2017.

The Whitehall Senior Center ($250), Whitehall Transportation ($250), P.U.L.S.E. ($250), VFW ($150), American Legion ($150), Whitehall Community Center ($1,000), Cardwell School ($500), Love Inc. ($250) and the Whitehall Community Library ($250) all were selected to receive grants in 2017.
