Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Editorial: Something for everyone at 2017 Frontier Days

It’s once again time for the most exciting weekend of the year in Whitehall.

Frontier Days will kickoff Friday and has a packed schedule for two consecutive days.

This year’s event will include the popular events like the parade, street dance, stick horse rodeo and others, but will also host several new events.

A potluck dinner is scheduled for July 28 at 6 p.m. and event organizers should be commended for this wonderful idea. Residents with last names starting A-G are asked to bring meat, those with the last name H-M are asked to bring desserts, and U-Z are being asked to bring salads or sodas. This is a superb addition to the schedule on Friday evening that will also include live music on Legion.

A 3-on-3-basketball tournament and Garnet panning have also been added to the schedule. These are two more events that make Frontier Days truly an event for the whole family.

Also don’t forget a relatively new event like the Jefferson Valley Fine Arts Show. This amazing show has brought something new to Frontier Days and that is never a bad thing.

This event not only brings the community together, it brings many who grew up in Whitehall and the surrounding area back to town. It is a chance to meet up with old friends and make new ones.

Whitehall is lucky to have an event like Frontier Days, and I’m hoping those who haven’t been for a while or may have just moved to town will come out and check out the festivities.

There is truly something for everyone.
