Bible Study Fellowship starts September 14 in Whitehall

More than 50 years ago, five women heard a missionary from China speak at their church in California. That was Audrey Wetherall Johnson. These women asked her if she would lead them in a Bible Study. She agreed, but told them she would not "spoon feed" them.

From those first five women, what has grown into Bible Study Fellowship International (BSF), is now holding classes, for both men and women, in more than 40 nations and has more than 350,000 class members.

Locally, three women (Carol Latta, Robin Nagel, and Linda Greenlief) have been traveling to BSF class twice a week in Bozeman for the past nine years. All three have become discussion group leaders and receive their weekly training on Tuesdays. They travel back to Bozeman on Wednesdays to lead their individual group of 16 women in discussion of the lesson for that week. There are over 450 women in BSF in Bozeman.

Two years ago, Latta began a day women's class in Whitehall, meeting at the Assembly of God Church every Thursday at 1 p.m. She still traveled to Bozeman each week for leader training.

This year, Nagel is offering an evening women's class on Fridays at 6:30 p.m. at 206 2nd Street W. There is no childcare available.

Chapter by Chapter, Verse by Verse, BSF approaches the Bible as God's Truth, to be studied, savored and lived out.

Whether new to the Bible or as a seasoned reader, BSF explores scripture together.

BSF is non-denominational. There is a four-fold approach to study God's Word.

Before class, those attending are asked explore daily questions from Scripture. During class, they discuss the passage with members. During class, members listen to the teaching of the lesson. After class, members read notes to further explore the scripture.

In 2017, BF is studying the Book of Romans. Other studies are John, Genesis, The Life of Moses, People of the Promised Land I and II, Isaiah, Matthew Acts of the Apostles and Revelation.

The Thursday classes in Whitehall will start again September 14 at 1 p.m.

The Friday classes will begin September 15 at 6:30 p.m.
