Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

County Commission Update

Hi Folks,

At last week’s regular meeting we gave final Plat approval for the Ridge Minor Subdivision near Clancy and approved Resolution 37-2017 which created The Ridge Rural Maintenance District. We also had a lengthy discussion with a couple of Library Board members about maintenance of the Library Building in Boulder. The building and land are owned jointly by the City and County. The Library is responsible for the maintenance of the building and grounds, which includes lawn care and snow plowing. The Board members didn’t think they got all of the money they wanted during the budget process. Hopefully, we can get this issue resolved in the near future.

We have Event Coordinator Bruce Binkowski, Planner LaDana Hintz, and GIS Manager Melissa Morris working part time on Recreation and Trails. They are looking at putting together a Collaborative Board to help put together a Recreation and Trails Plan. We hope to have a broad range of interests that will be excited to serve on the Board. Part of our goal will be to assist the Forest Service with Travel Planning in Jefferson County. We can do that by identifying what is important to Jefferson County, looking at the Trail System as a whole, and striking a balance between motorized and non-motorized trails. We would envision holding a series of Public meetings throughout the process, so we can get as much Public involvement as possible. There will be an ad in the paper asking for volunteers in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, if you are interested in becoming involved in the process, please give Bruce Binkowski a call at 406-225-4039 or bbinkowski@jeffersoncounty-mt.gov.
