Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

EDITORIAL: Auction items key to Black Tie Blue Jeans

Just a few weeks into 2018, members of the Whitehall Chamber of Commerce are already working hard planning events for the year.

With the start of the new year, this is a perfect time for local businesses to join the chamber or for volunteers to help plan and work at upcoming events.

While the chamber staff and many active members do a great job promoting Whitehall, they also work diligently to put together events throughout the year. There hard work does not go unnoticed, but they could always use an extra hand.

One of the huge upcoming events is Black Tie Blue Jeans scheduled for April 28 at the Whitehall Community Center.

The only fundraiser of its kind locally, the 2017 Black Tie Blue Jeans raised $27,000 that not only helped out the Chamber, but also the Jefferson County Community Foundation and nine local non profit organizations.

Each year local community members donate items to the auction and the event would not happen without their generosity. It goes to show just the type of people that live in Whitehall and the surrounding area. Year in and year out they donate to the event that gives back to the community.

The Chamber is asking anyone interested in donating auction items for the event to contact the office or a board member. Even the smallest of donations gives back to such important organizations like the Whitehall Senior Center, Whitehall Transportation, P.U.L.S.E., VFW, American Legion, Whitehall Community Center, Love Inc. and the Whitehall Community Library.

The chamber can be contacted at 406-287-2260 or whitehallmtchamber@gmail.com.
