E. Tim Opie

E. Tim Opie passed away peacefully on February 26, 2018. Tim was 77 years old. Tim was born May 19, 1940 to Francis (Bo) Opie and Ruth Opie. Tim was the second child of four, and grew up moving from Substation to Substation for the Milwaukee Railroad, at times riding the freight train to school. His favorite town was East Portal, he sang a little jingle about not wanting to leave there.

Tim joined the Air Force at the age of 17, after basic training Tim was stationed in Tulee Greenland, which provided a backdrop for all his service stories.

Tim was well known in the business community as a successful salesman selling everything from mobile homes to carpeting, owning a few businesses of his own. Paul Harvey once talked about him for one of his sales when he took an African Lion Cub in on trade for a car. He once told his wife not to stand in one spot to long or he might sell her.

He enjoyed playing cards, four wheeling, boating and hosting gatherings at his home. He really enjoyed retirement, being a snowbird, making new friends in Yuma, and driving his Jeep through the desert.

Tim was proceeded in death by both his parents, a son Robin James, and a great grandson.

Tim is survived by his wife Linda, children Shara (Mudge) Tamietti, Merridee (Brad) Moshier, Tim Beau (Jennifer) Opie, Lisa (Billy) Hands, Brenda (Pat) Brewer and Rex Walsh. 13 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren. Siblings Roberta Dapp, Janice( Howard) Hunt, Jim( Bonnie) Opie and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and his beloved dog Pogo.
