Darling visits CTAC meeting

Since its inception, the Community Transition Advisory Committee has given community officials a chance to not only learn a little bit more about the Barrick Golden Sunlight Mine near Whitehall, it has also awarded them the opportunity to give feedback to mine officials. At last week’s meeting special guest Rebecca Darling, Corporate Responsibility Director for Barrick USA, discussed the importance of the monthly meeting. Darling said her job is make sure that Barrick and the Golden Sunlight Mines are listening to the people who attend CTAC, adding these type of meetings don’t always happen at other locations. She added it is important to not only listen to those at the meeting, but to everyone in the area and for them to be able to voice their concerns.

Golden Sunlight Environmental Superintendent Chuck Buus also encouraged residents from the area to continue with their comments about the mine whether they are positive or negative, adding is his opinion, there is no such thing as a bad comment.

Darling spent last week visiting with local residents, government officials, and business owners.

MARCH PRODUCTION

Mine General Manager Dan Banghart reported production in March was 3,505 ounces, a bit below both the budget and forecast for the month. Banghart said they pushed around 1,000 ounces into April production because of what he called “trouble crushing”. He did however say that underground production in March went really well.

There are currently 52 Barrick employees, 1 regional Barrick employee, and 95 contract employees at the site.
