Erik Todd fundraiser Saturday

It will be a great time for a great cause this Saturday at the Whitehall Community Center with the Erik Todd Benefit fundraiser scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.

The event will raise money for the former longtime Cardwell resident who suffered a serious head injury during a March snowboarding accident.

The son of Lynette Green and John Todd, he was raised in Cardwell and a 2017 graduate of Butte High School. He was attending Southern Utah University at the time of the accident.

Among the event organizers are Konnie Smith and Cara Sacry, who were both very impressed what local residents and businesses have donated to the event that will include both a silent and live auction.

"We have really have a lot of items, and a lot of different items," Smith said.

Some of the items included at the benefit are a yeti cooler, hunting and rafting trips, 50 gallons of gas from the Corner Store, spa trips, gift certificates and much more.

Sacry said it is amazing the support the community has shown for Erik and the benefit.

Dinner will be served at the event and will include spaghetti, chicken, rolls, salads, and dessert. Pepsi has donated drinks for the benefit and there will also be a full cash bar.

There will also be activities planned for kids in attendance including a balloon pop, a basketball shoot, and corn hole.

In April, Todd was transported to the Craig Rehabilitation Hospital in Englewood, Colorado. The winner of a benefit raffle for Todd will take place at the event with first place receiving a one-day, two person guided fishing trip from Four Rivers Fishing Company in Twin Bridges. Second place is a Ruger 10-22 Walnut Stock donated by Shedhorn Sports in Ennis. Third prize is a 12 Gg. Shotgun – Mosburn Maverick Mod 88. The tickets will be sold at the event up till the drawing. The cost is $20 per ticket or six for $100.

Sacry said the costs to care for an injury like this are astronomical and while they will not go away after a week or two, she is very appreciative that the local community can help out next Saturday.
