Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Catherine Alice Seccomb, 88

Amidst the joyful sounds of children and in the loving care of devoted family and caring Hospice nurses, Catherine Alice Seccomb passed from this life on July 27, 2018 in her family home in Whitehall, Montana. She left with such dignity, kindness, and generosity, all around her felt deeply loved and assured there was a greater love into which she would rise. She was born on August 5, 1929 to Catherine A. Harrington Mulcahy and Maurice J. Mulcahy. One of three children, she and her two brothers were raised on North Wyoming street in Butte, just down the street from the larger Mulcahy clan who she affectionately referred to as "her people". Catherine received a Catholic education, graduating from Butte Girl's Central High School. She had the gift of music and played the organ for Catholic masses in Butte and Whitehall from the time she a teen. She last played at her son Gary's funeral on April 7, 2018.

Catherine married Ernest Lee Seccomb on August 20, 1949, a loving and respectful union of 63 years that did not end, but was temporarily severed, upon Ernie's passing on March 30, 2012. Together, they raised 11 children. They packed up the family and moved from Butte to the "ranch" in Whitehall in 1974, where she milked cows, raised children, worked the land, and made a wonderful life for the family, setting an example alongside Ernie, of hard work, healthy living, and devotion to faith. Catherine was a devoted member of the St. Theresa of Avila parish for 44 years, playing the organ, providing religious education to children, and assisting families with funeral services.

Her last days were spent visiting with many good friends and family, a showing she felt was truly humbling. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie Seccomb, sons Lee and Gary Seccomb, grandson Joseph Seccomb, father, Maurice Mulcahy, mother, Catherine Mulcahy, brother Maury Mulcahy, uncle, John Harrington, and aunts Sister Mary Harrington, Rebecca Harrington, and Theresa Blickhan.
