Great turnout at Jefferson County Fair

Jefferson County Fair Board members are very pleased with last week's event.

"It was a banner year for the number of people who attended the fair and rodeo on Saturday. We lucked out on the weather...the smoke cleared for Saturday and there was a nice cooling trend Sunday," said member Terry Minow.

Among the highlights listed by Minow was the attendance and reaction to Fun Pianos, a Thursday night fundraiser for the carousel.

"There was lots of audience participation...people are still talking about how much fun they had. As was pointed out, people of all ages & occupations came together for a fun night together. That's the definition of community," she said.

Minow added other highlights were the food auction, which raised over $8000 for fairgrounds improvements, the 4-H kids with their well-loved animals, and the live music that encouraged people to sit and visit in the park.

Minow said the board will be taking ideas of how to improve the fair and how to increase the number of entries at their September meeting. People with suggestions and ideas can email bullheadm@aol.com or call Minow at 225-4397.
