Whitehall Chrismtas Stroll Saturday

There will be plenty of fun for all ages at the 2018 Whitehall Christmas Stroll.

The annual event is sponsored by the Whitehall Chamber of Commerce and will take place on Saturday, December 8 in downtown Whitehall.

Chamber Vice President and event organizer Melissa Jenkins believes the stroll is very family friendly.

"There are things for both kids and adults to enjoy. Parents can find a unique gift at the market while the kids can visit Santa or do crafts," she said.

Saturday's lineup will start with the Jefferson Valley Fine Arts Show scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Borden's Building. The Christmas Stroll Quilt Show and Raffle is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the Christmas Market is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., both at the Whitehall Community Center.

Jenkins stressed the importance of shopping local at an event like the Whitehall Christmas Stroll.

"You certainly go to a big store and find something, but the Stroll is a chance to find a unique gift," she said.

Those at the community center can also cast their votes from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the Whitehall Saddle Club Wreath Auction. The live auction will take place at the Mint Bar at 7 p.m.

The Library will be busy with activities on Saturday. The library is hosting a book sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Santa from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and kids crafts from 10 a.m. to Noon.

Love Inc. will be handing out free hats and gloves for kids in need from 1 to 4 p.m. at the library.

The American Legion Post #24 and VFW Post #4603 Chili Lunch will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Community Center

Hay Rides will be available from Noon to 3 p.m. and will be loading in front of the community center.

Jenkins said along with the variety of events, the stroll serves as a great way to get out and visit with neighbors.

"People can get out and visit with friends they may not see again for a while and that is one of the best parts about the event," she said. "Hopefully people can see the event as the 'Frontier Days' of December".

The stroll will unofficially kickoff Friday, December 7 with the Rocky Mountain Bank Christmas Open House. The open house will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
