Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

OUR VIEW: Time to start thinking about BTBJ

It's time to start thinking about the annual Black Tie Blue Jeans fundraiser scheduled for May 4 at the Whitehall Community Center.

The event is the largest annual area fundraiser and is vital to so many non-profit organizations in the Whitehall area. With the event less than two months away, we encourage local businesses and residents to purchase tickets and start to make donations for an event that truly does make a difference in the area.

The money raised is first given to local non-profit organizations then divided between the Whitehall Chamber of Commerce (85 percent) and Jefferson Valley Community Foundation (15). The chamber uses the money for events like Frontier Days and the Christmas Stroll, and the JVCF places their money in their endowment and administrative fund to support the current and future needs of the community.

Whether is purchasing a ticket, sponsoring the event, or making a donation, every little bit helps the Whitehall area.

The local community has a long history of giving back to the community and this yearly event is so important to organizations that make a difference.

During July residents, former residents, and people from across the area make their way to Whitehall for Frontier Days. Black Tie Blue Jeans plays an integral role in making this a successful event. The same can be said for the many other events hosted by the chamber.

The JVCF also uses their money to give back to the community and their yearly grant awards are always a highlight for many area non-profits.

The Black Tie Blue jeans event is a night to have a little fun while at the same time giving back to the community. There are very important fundraisers throughout the year and everyone who donates even the smallest amount should be commended. This one however takes on such an important role for this community.

Tickets can be purchased at the Corner Store and look for more information in upcoming editions of the Ledger.
