Share a Tune at Beats & Eats Open Mic Night

Grab the microphone, strum your guitar, break out the ukulele – share a song! Beats & Eats begins Saturday, May 18 at 5 p.m., ending at 8 p.m. This event, which will be held at least once a month at Chuchos during the summer months, invites musical talents of all ages, skill levels and genres to come participate. Bring your own lawn chair, grab a spot in the grass at Chuchos and enjoy the local talents while devouring some delicious cuisine.

Chuchos restaurant owner Heather Fortin and local band Homemade Jam have teamed up in creating this new event in hopes of bringing the community closer via food and music. Fortin, who spends her winters in Mexico, saw the magic these two elements can bring to a community during her recent visit to Todos Santos, a small Mexican town. A few nights a week the town would come together for an open mic night, complete with a house band to help carry the night along. Vendors with good beer, handmade trinkets, ice cream, and more would surround the venue offering their wares to those listening and feasting. The house band would jam with those participating if they were asked and musicians from all walks of life came out to play. Fortin loved that this event brought people to town to dance, socialize, eat and enjoy the music. Before returning to the States, Fortin contacted Homemade Jam – an Americana/Country/Little Bit of Everything band based mainly out of Whitehall - and together put a plan forth to create Beats & Eats.

Beats & Eats will begin May 18th at 5 p.m. with additional dates currently slated for June 8, June 22, and July 27, with more dates pending. Microphones, plugins, and a PA system will be available courtesy of Homemade Jam. For more information please contact Rex Davis at 406-782-1933 or Liz Pullman at 406-498-3807.
