Charles (Chuck) Franklin Steffes

Steffes passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019 in Whitehall, Montana.

Chuck was born to Urban Paul Steffes and Helen Mileski Steffes on July 26, 1940, in Traverse City, Michigan. During his youth, he helped with the family store, enjoyed hunting and generally getting into mischief. While there, he had a role in the passage of a state law banning the sale of dynamite to minors.

He went on to enlist in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1965 and worked on aircraft at what was then the Naval Auxillary Air Station in Meridian, Mississippi. It was during this assignment that he met his future wife and l...
