Trojans take down Wolves, senior night October 25

The Whitehall/Harrison High School football team shined in all three phases of the game and picked up their first conference win of the season with a 29-6 road win last Friday at Three Forks.

The Trojans scored on their first possession of the game on a pass from freshman Miles Hoerauf to Flint Smith and took a 7-0 lead with 9:05 left in the opening quarter.

Head Coach Dan Lacey said it was huge to get points right off the bat.

"We were able to score on our first drive and I really think that takes the energy out of their senior night. It's nice to get the ball and to be able to score and put them behind. It's tough to play from behind," he said.

Whitehall would find the board once more in the first quarter on a 50-yard pass from Hoerauf to sophomore Brendan Wagner to take a 13-0 lead with 1:33 left in the first.

It was a huge night for Wagner who would intercept a Trenton Nimmick pass late in the second quarter, one of three picks on the evening.

A touchdown pass from Hoerauf to Payton King would push the lead to 20-0 with 1:19 remaining in the half.

Following a Trojans safety early in the third quarter to take a 22-0 lead, The Wolves got back into the game on a 6-yard Trenton Nimmick touchdown to cut the lead to 22-6.

Whitehall would fire right back with a long kickoff return from freshman Sage Buus followed by a Hoerauf to Robbins touchdown to end the scoring with 1:21 left in the third.

Wagner would help seal the game with two second half interceptions.

Lacey said he was super proud of the way the kids played.

"That's the first time we've played all three phases in a while. We had some big things on offense, defense, and special teams. That's what it takes to win a football game...you've got to find a way to win at least two and we won all three tonight," he said.

The Trojans (3-5, 1-4 Southern B) will wrap up their season Friday with a senior night matchup against Big Timber.

"We always talk about going 1-0 for the week. We've got to finish this year 1-0. We will get ready to go and get a game plan to beat Big Timber," he said.
