Donna Clark

The mule deer bucks no longer look back because Donna Clark has hung up her 30.06.

Donna passed away December 4 surrounded by her family at her home in Cardwell. She was born in Whitehall on December 21, 1937, to David and Frances Ogan. She attended Cardwell School and Whitehall High School. Her adventurous spirit allowed her to enjoy her childhood with her sister Allene and brother Davey. She often related childhood adventures whether it be work, play, or general mischief in which she was a major player.

Donna was exceptionally talented as a musician. Her work ethic and love of the ranch she and her husband Wes owned was unparalleled. After Wes passed, she sold the ranch and continued to work in the valley, in construction and yard maintenance. Many will remember her sarcasm and wit from her bartending days in the old Mint Bar.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wes, her daughters Shelley and Dana, her son Butch, and her nephew Randy. She is survived by her sister Allene, brother Davey (Peggy), daughters Sherry, and Leslie (Jock); her grandchildren Sawyer, Chris, Jesse, Lynsey, Amanda, Jenna, Jessie, and Jody; nieces Lara, Wanda, and Megan; nephews Wes, Travis, Rick, Cordel, Michael, and Brian; and several great-grandchildren.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Frontier Hospice for Mom's care the last several months, Axelson Cremation Service for their compassion, and our Aunt Allene for her unwavering love and tenderness as Mom's primary caregiver the last six months. Her devotion has been truly inspiring.

Mom conquered steep hills and defied the idea of too far to walk: She discovered those big mule deer bucks that seemed to be phantoms of the hills that disappeared from sight to the ordinary hunter. But our Mother was not ordinary. She and her brother even encountered numerous sightings of the stump "Sasquatch" that roamed Pale Canyon, yet never seemed to move.

She wrote the following before her death. "If fell into space and God caught me, I would say, 'Put me back where I belong and give me what I value most.' He would put me in the wilderness and say, 'This belongs to you'."
