Richard Howard Robbins

10/15/1940 – 06/14/2020

On June 14, 2020, Richard Howard Robbins passed away with his loving family by his side.

Richard Howard Robbins (Dick) was born in Whitehall, Montana to Lester T. Robbins and Margaret M. Robbins, (Ricketts) on October 15, 1940. He attended Whitehall High School and Montana State University.

Dick married his High School sweetheart, Donna Lovelace on April 3, 1960. They had 3 children together, Dean, Doug and Darlene.

Dick married Darlene Olson on November 5, 1971 and together they raised 5 children adding Jeff and Merle Olson to the family.

Later in life, Dick met and soon married his active counterpart, Lois. They had many adventures together and eventually settled down in Oregon, where they were able to enjoy time with her children, Brad and Shauna. Dick and Lois were always exploring the beautiful hiking trails around Oregon and making trips back to Montana to see friends and family.

Growing up on a farm, Dick learned that he could do about anything. He took this attitude into his adult life where he worked as a bookkeeper to construction companies, served as a bank officer, owned and operated a post plant and a department store, and built several houses. Dick was also a very accomplished musician with several instruments. Watching him play the piano or banjo, was mesmerizing. It was a gift he lovingly shared with his wife, children, step children and grandkids. As the Patriarch of our family, he has set the bar pretty high for the rest of us.

Everyone who was lucky enough to know and be loved by Dick felt his unconditional love. He was always his families' biggest fan and had a way of showing you that you could accomplish great feats knowing he had your back. He was a calming, gentle voice of comfort and guidance. He truly was the best husband, father, step-father and grandfather any of us could've asked for, and he was always there, with smiling eyes, when we needed him.

"One more time... I wish I could walk with you one more time. To talk and reminisce one more time. You were a lot of good things to a lot of good people and the world lost a great, great man."

Dick is survived by his wife Lois, Brother Jim Robbins and Sister Mary Touhimaa, 3 children and spouses, Dean and Crystal Robbins, Doug and Kathy Robbins, Darlene and Mark Hamilton. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. His family was his life.

Family Graveside Service and Interment was held in Salem, Oregon.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Leukemia and Lymphoma society.
