Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Whitehall opening season with limited attendance

There will be a limited number of home fans allowed as the Whitehall High School sporting teams start the fall season in Phase 2 of the State of Montana Reopening.

According to guidelines provided by Whitehall Superintendent Hannah Nieskens, Whitehall Schools will allow two fans for each home players active on the team roster. Those fans will be asked to check-in at the gate and add to the event fan roster that will be used for tracking purposes should a case of Covid-19 occur. Masks will be required, and no visiting spectators will be allowed.

Fans who are health compromised, over age 65, or are exhibiting symptoms consistent with Covid-19 are asked to stay home.

Fans who are not allowed are also being encouraged to watch the football and volleyball broadcasts online.

Nieskens said they will be broadcasting all of their sporting events on the NFHS Network and local low power television to try and reach a broader audience than who is allowed to physically attend the games, adding part of the press box project at the football field was to install a Pixellot camera to broadcast games on NFHS.

The guidelines were adopted in conjunction with the Jefferson County Health Department and Jefferson County High School.

Once the state moves into Phase 3, all in-district spectators will be allowed entry, and visiting fans will be allowed two spectators per active player on their roster if their county is below four active cases.

If the state moves back to Phase 1 of reopening only players and required staff will be allowed at the events.
