High school, junior high rodeo set for September 12, 13

There will be plenty of great rodeo action this weekend in Whitehall.

The annual Whitehall High School and Junior High Rodeo are scheduled for Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13 at the Rodeo Grounds. Saturday action is set to begin at 10 a.m. on Sunday will start at 9 a.m.

According to organizer Lonna Johnson, there is no gate charge for the 2020 rodeo, and spectators are being asked to practice social distancing of six to 10 feet, unless with immediate family.

"The kids are excited. They just want to get out and do things. This also gives them a chance to be rewarded," Johnson said.

Seniors Garris Robertson, Evan Wagner, Dalaney Scafani, Jacy Johnson and Hannah Haverland will be honored prior to the start of the Sunday rodeo. Lane Wagner, and Kassidy Dunagan will also be competing.

Johnson added that so far, the size of the 2020 rodeo is similar to those in the past with around 400 "go's" scheduled. She also encouraged community members to attend.

"Even if you have never come, get out and support these kids," she said.
