Mine General Manager Shares Optimism on Project

Golden Sunlight Mine General Manager Chuck Buus is hopeful by this time next year they will have concentrate being shipped by truck to Nevada.

In an update at last week's Community Transition Advisory Committee meeting, Buus discussed the Tailings Reprocessing Project and said they are hopeful to have a record of decision from the state by September. He said they have been able to do work inside of the mill area, but will not be able to do any work outside until the record of decision.

As far as the inside work, Buus reported both the mills have been removed and they have been working on the concentrate feed system. The mine plans to initially ship the concentrate by truck until they can get a railroad contract.

Buus told committee members their application for the project was listed as complete and compliant by the state and the Environmental Impact Statement draft process should be last around eight months.

In May, Barrick officials announced they had found a customer for the concentrate.

Nevada Gold. Mine's (NGM) had been looking for a long-term reliable, low cost, bulk source of sulfur. NGM officials reported the reprocessed tailings would contain a significant amount of tailings.

There are currently 17 Barrick and 20 contractors at the site.
