Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks: 2/24/2021

Spring is in the air and the library is getting ready for spring programs in March! For those of you who have enjoyed several programs by Emily Dickerson, you will be happy to know she is coming back! On March 13th she will be sharing “Flower Pressing and Crafts” at 9:30 a.m. for adults and then a special 11:00 session for children. If you are interested in attending, please call the library at 287-3763 and let us know so we will have enough supplies for everyone.

Our friend from PBS, Deanna Mydland, will be here on March 5th at 9:30 a.m. for a special Story Time. She will be bringing all her great projects for our little ones to try out, as well as tie-ins to PBS kids sites. This is a great time for anyone who has not had a chance to come to Story Time to try out some of the many special programs we do to encourage our youngest readers.

The library is in the process of weeding our entire collection to make room for new books and DVDs. These discarded items are in the Friends Book Sale and available for 20 cents a hardback, 10 cents a paperback, and 25 cents for a DVD. The proceeds from the book sale go to the Friends to assist in program funding, new equipment like computers, special events, and more.

The question of the week is “when will the library start summer hours?” The answer is that we have one set of hours which serve us year-round. The library is open Mondays and Wednesdays 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Fridays 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The library is open based on the amount of funding we receive from the county in order to hire staff. Volunteers are not allowed to work without a staff member on duty for both their protection and ours. They do, however, allow us to do more things as I am not having to schedule two staff people when there are volunteers available. If you would like to volunteer, come see me as we are always looking for more wonderful people to help us out with a variety of tasks.

Thank you to everyone who filled up the donation box for children without proper clothing. Pam was able to take a huge box of warm clothes, gloves, coats, socks, and boots up to the school for children in need. The box filled in less than 48 hours! Thank you all so much for your generosity.
