Ah....The Whitehall Rumor Mill

What would we do without gossip and rumors? Hmmm...life would probably be a lot less dramatic, the news would be a bit more reliable, but life might also be a bit boring.

Don’t get me wrong, I love gossip magazines, reality television and that type of contrived gossip. Those are actors and personalities whose lives make them money. Their fame depends on people talking about them, and sometimes negative press is what brings in the big bucks.

While I love celebrity gossip, I myself am no celebrity and I’ve heard quite a bit of chatter about my purchase of the Whitehall Ledger. Honestly, none of it bothers me. People can think whatever they’d like about me, as long as they enjoy the newspaper and read it every week! However, I’d like to clear some of this up because it involves my family.

I, Elizabeth Pullman, purchased the Whitehall Ledger.

- My parents didn’t purchase it for me.

- My in-laws did not purchase it for me.

- Bill Pullman did not purchase it for me.

I took out a loan and am putting forth the work to make the paper the best it can be. There’s no one behind the scenes telling me what to do. There is no political agenda. There is no puppet master pulling my strings.

I am also not a “raging liberal”. This one I thought was tremendously funny, because I have not brought my politics into any article I’ve published, but I AM striving to make sure both sides of each coin are well represented throughout the paper.

I have friends of every religion, sex, gender identity, political viewpoint, and age. I specifically don’t talk politics because I’ve learned that lesson the hard way - I’ve lost friends and argued with family when it comes to politics.

You won’t read politics coming from me in this newspaper - you will, however, see both sides well-represented as best a small town paper can.
