The Lady Trojans played amazing defense against the Sweet Grass Herders in regular play and in double overtime.
Saturday's Lady Trojan basketball game pitted the #2 seeded Trojans against the #1 seeded Sweet Grass Lady Herders in an exciting matchup that kept the crowd at the edge of their seats the entire evening.
Tied at the end of nearly every quarter, the Lady Trojans brought the game to single, then double overtime with fierce defense and strong offense.
At the beginning of the first overtime the score sat at 51 each. By the start of double overtime, each team held at 58. Unfortunately the Herders brought out the win against the Trojans 69/72.
"I wish we would have pulled it out - but that's life. It was a great game," said Coach Mecklin Davis. "We're going to contine to hammer in our plays and hammer in our philosophies at these next games. We''re going to play loose and have fun."
The Lady Trojans enter Divisionals as the #2 seeded team in their division. Divisional will bring the top eight teams for each division to Billings Metra this week.
The Trojans first game will be Wednesday at 3pm. Friday afternoon will be game time if the Trojans win; should they lose they will play Friday morning.
The State tournament will be held in Billings the following weekend.
