The Friends of the Library asked me to remind everyone that all logo contest entries are due by 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 15. The judges decide on a winner and award them the $100 prize in a few weeks. The logo will then be placed on all things the Library does in the way of promotion, programming, publications, and more. Thank you in advance to everyone who participated in the contest, the Friends have already received some great entries.

This week our guest lecturer for Government 101 is Bonnie Ramey from the Clerk & Recorders office. She will be discussing how elections in Jefferson County are done from start to finish, along with the other duties her department performs. Join us on Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m., upstairs in the Library. Next week will feature Terri Kunz from the Treasurer's Office.

The Mystery Book Club will meet on April 20th at 5:00 p.m. They will be discussing new and cozy mysteries which have come into the collection. Everyone is free to join the group at any time to discuss the latest in who-done it.

The Holocaust Discussion group will meet on April 22 at 6:00 p.m. This group is learning about the different

aspects of the Holocaust period from 1932-1945. Members read an account of the period, both fiction and non-fiction, and learn about different situations in various countries. This month they will be exploring the Holocaust in France.

Now is a great time to pick up a few paperbacks to take on vacation. The Friends book sale is open during regular library hours and there is a large selection as the staff is weeding the main library collection. Books rotate out on a regular basis to make room for the new items coming in. The price is right as hardbacks are .25 each, paperbacks are .10, and DVDs are .25 each. There is also the free bookshelf as you come in the front entry. Come take a look and enjoy a summer of reading.

Thank you to Deanna Mydland and PBS for letting her lead our preschoolers in variety of seed exploration. The little ones had a great time dissecting various fruits and vegetables to see what nature had hidden on the inside!

For those of you new to the area, the Library hours are Mondays and Wednesdays 9 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Fridays 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Calendars of Library programs are available at the front desk.
