Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Flynn Closes Out Cross Country Career Happy

"Just before the race the emotion set in as I realized that this was the last cross country race I would ever run as a Blue Hawk. There were tears in my eyes as I stepped up to the line knowing that I had given everything I had to the sport of cross country for 8 years now," Hunter Flynn said, happily recalling this past weekend's National Cross County Meet in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Flynn, a Whitehall alumni who took the Trojan cross country team by storm during his years in Whitehall, brought his talents to Dickinson State University and keeps running forward to the future.

The National Meet was a muddy wet course, which Flynn said made it all the more challenging, but also an unforgettable experience. The conditions of the course left him with a slightly slower time in the 8000 meter race, 28:15, but Flynn's final race was a success and he is happy with his results.

"It was cool to be able to share some of my running knowledge with my younger teammates and experience cross country at the national level with my teammates," Flynn said of his three Freshman teammates who joined him at the meet.

Now that cross county is complete and graduation is on the horizon, Flynn is jumping right into the outdoor track season, which begins this weekend. He will be competing in the 3000 meter steeplechase and the 5000 meter run.

"It's been an amazing ride and I'm thankful for every second I got to run and compete."
