How often does a barbershop quartet stroll through Whitehall these days? Whitehall area residents will have a chance to enjoy the four-part harmonies at an April 27 concert while also raising money for the local school music program. “The Chord Rustlers,” a group of 30 barbershop quartet singers from Bozeman, will present “Stepping Out with a Song” along with members of the Whitehall High School Concert Choir on Saturday, April 27 at 7 p.m. “The Chord Rustlers” will present a variety of music from Western cowboy songs to Southern ballads. They will also feature different quartets from the chorus performing humorous sketches and songs.
Whitehall has been named a Tree City USA by The National Arbor Day Foundation. It is the fourth year Whitehall has received this national recognition. The Tree City USA program is sponsored by The National Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service and the National Assoc. of State Foresters. To become a Tree City USA, a community must meet four standards: a tree board or department, a city tree ordinance, a comprehensive community forestry program, and an Arbor Day observance.
Dozens of civic minded youngsters and adults turned out to brighten up Whitehall for Earth Day, April 21. Even though Earth Day had the misfortune of falling the day after Whitehall’s Prom, Whitehall Kiwanis Club members were still fortunate to have the help of some high school Key Clubbers during their spring highway clean-up.
