Liberty Place to 'Soldier On' June 17th

Liberty Place residents will present "Lights On IV: Soldier On" Thursday, June 17. An art exhibition, made possible by a grant from the Montana Arts Council, will be held at Borden's before the show from 2-5:30 p.m. with hors d'oeuvres reception from 4-5:30 p.m. The concert will begin on the Main Street Green at 6 p.m.

The residents unanimously chose the theme, 'Soldier On,' based on a verse from the song "Everybody's Looking for Some Light," by Colony House. That song will be performed, as well as several original songs, including their "pandemic" song, "How Do We Find That Road Again," which can be seen on YouTube.

All of the songs performed reflect a very long year for the residents. For most of that year they have been severely confined, and it has been a struggle to keep going - to keep striving for anything at all.

Ironically, residents chose the theme of looking for light way back in January 2020, before any of the pandemic happened. The theme has only gotten stronger and more poignant since then, combined with the idea of soldiering on in perseverance and hope.

Musicians will be different combinations of residents from Whitehall's two facilities, and may include guest appearances from the Bootstrap Ranch facility in Belgrade. Other guest appearances from the community will also be involved, which is always very meaningful to all of us at Liberty Place.
