Update on Radar Signs for Legion & Whitehall Streets

A few months ago, the Whitehall Ledger started fundraising for four radar signs to go along east/west Legion Avenue and north/south Whitehall Street. The Whitehall Ledger is excited to announce that several great individuals have come forward and donated to the cause, as well as several local entities have offered assistance to the cause. While we have not quite met the halfway point for funds, we are off to a great start!

However, now is my time to ask for the community’s assistance. After speaking with the Montana DOT and several other officials, I have been told that the more letters of support I can provide to the DOT, the easier it will be to get approval for these signs, as the roads they would be installed on our Montana highways.

Specifically noted was the need for business owners and residents on either of these streets - Legion Avenue or Whitehall Street - to voice their support.

I did not realize how passionate about this project I would become, but every time I see someone speed down these streets with no regard for the pedestrians - or the law - I dig my heels in deeper and want the signs more.

If you feel like me - wanting to keep our Whitehall residents safe, wanting to see the speed limit laws obeyed, wanting to see slower, safer traffic on our major streets - please send me a letter of support. I beg you.

Letters of support may be dropped off at the Ledger office or mailed to the Ledger at PO Box 1169, Whitehall, MT 59759. Please include your name, whether you are a business owner or a resident, and the location of your property. If you aren’t located on either of these two streets, but want to voice your support, please do so!

If you are interested in donating to the sign fund, you may drop funds off at the Whitehall Ledger or deposit them directly into the “Radar Sign Fund” account at Rocky Mountain Bank.
