406 Roots: Making Whitehall Home

406 Root Salon has rooted itself into Whitehall as its newest salon!

Casey Shaw purchased the business from Leslie Dyson, which was formerly Dalene's Salon. The business was renamed, the building's decor revamped, and opened as 406 Roots on the first of July. Dyson will remain at the 406 Roots location but has plans to retire. She is currently not taking any new clients.

The decor in the salon, namely the photo on the wall in the picture at right, was what inspired the name of the business.

"I was having a hard time deciding what to rename the salon. It was between two names. Then I saw this photo and it was National 406 Day - and the decision was made," Shaw said.

Shaw worked under Dyson for the last nine years and has 14 years' experience doing hair and nails. She has brought two additional employees, Alex Nicholls and Amber Edsall, into the 406 Roots family.

Nicholls is originally from Arlee and trained in Missoula. She has five years' experience in doing nails, lashes, and facials. She is available Monday, Wednesday, and Thursdays for any of her services. Nicholls is currently offering $15 off a manicure/pedicure package with gel manicure and regular polish pedicure through the end of July.

Edsall is a familiar face to the Whitehall area, having worked many years for her husband's family business - Cliff's Auto. While she will continue to work at Cliff's, she is now offering haircuts and colors at 406 Roots. She also has 14 years' experience under her belt. She is available Mondays and Wednesdays for your hair needs. Edsall is currently offering $5 off haircuts and $10 off hair color services, also through the end of July.

406 Roots is located at 2 1/2 South Lincoln, by the railroad tracks and the gravel pits. Walk ins are welcome Monday and Wednesdays, otherwise the salon is by appointment only Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
