Bannack Living History Week in September

The 9th annual Living History Event at Bannack State Park will be held on September 16 - 19.

Bannack State Park would like to give teachers and educators notice of a field trip opportunity coming this fall. The activities will run from 9am until 5pm Thursday through Saturday and 9 to 3 Sunday.

Relive the excitement of the Gold Rush era in Montana. This four day event will depict the first 20 years of Bannack’s history. Demonstrations are historically researched and accurately portrayed by members of Montana History Live Inc. Bannack’s Living History Program uses exhibits and artifacts to help you experience what it was like to live where the Montana Gold Rush began. See an 1862 placer mining camp, printing press, general store, doctor’s office, schoolhouse, saloon, boarding house, gunsmith, apothecary and many more with over 25 stations. There will be a Sunday service in the old church and more historically accurate depictions of life in the early years of Bannack. Discover what the Old West was really like.

Thursday and Friday, September 16 and 17, are excellent days to schedule a school trip. Reservations are required for schools so please call to arrange a time for your school to participate. This event is free to Montana residents. Out of state vehicles pay an $8.00 park entrance fee. For more information and to schedule a school visit, please call the park at 406-834-3413.
